Last week two of our Career Services members were busy at the Canberra Careers Market. The promotion of the myfuture site was well received with visitors accessing the site from 8 computers. Understandably our primary audience - secondary school students - loved the yo-yo giveaways!
Selling the myfuture site as an ongoing ‘one stop shop’ for career information and exploring personal options seems to work. Users can revisit the site regularly and use the My Guide section to build their own career story board in their own space.
With a new enhanced My Guide project underway, the benefits for myfuture users will include virtual tour, improved navigation, streamlined login, more visuals, and short ‘taster’ activities to enjoy.
Stayed tuned for future enhancements updates.
This week, Julia Gillard has announced that in less than four months more than 1,600 job seekers have completed training under the Productivity Places Program and are now beginning to take up jobs in skills shortage areas. More information on this Program can be found at http://www.productivityplaces.deewr.gov.au
The Top 30 enrolments by qualification under the Productivity Places Program include Financial Services, Hairdressing, Aged Care Work and Children’s Services. This seems like a brilliant initiative for those currently looking for work.In addition to this, its National ICT Careers Week commencing on 28 July 2008 – 2 August 2008.
