Whatever happened to 1.0?

From twopointouch, the next big thing ‘according to Tim O’Reilly’ is Who 2.0. Now, while there is some really interesting discussion here on Identity, what’s the deal with all things 2.0? In a previous article I suggested that Web 2.0 among other things, is a great marketing term but I probably should have refined that to just 2.0. There are so many * 2.0’s out there now but some seem to just jump straight there. I am joining the bandwagon for a while and appending 2.0 to the title of this blog.

Cheers.

Hey Jerry. I am not *yet* regretting having a 2.0 style domain name. But I am sure the time will come… I reckon the “ouch” part probably let’s me survive into the backlash for a little while.

Hi Ian, twopointouch sums it up perfectly for me and I really enjoy your blog. I guess my concern is with other people/organisations that append 2.0 to a concept or solution in what may be an indiscriminate manner or simply marketing. 2.0 seems to be a really easily exploitable term these days.
    Cheers,
    Jerry.

I think apprending 2.0 is cute. I might move right along to Jen 2.1 as 2.0 is so 2006. :-)
