Digital stories flow from edna workshops

Need some inspiration? Digital stories based on the theme “What I love about teaching and learning” should do the trick.  These stories were created by first time digital storytellers as part of the edna 2008 workshop series.

I had so much fun working with this switched on, energetic group as they tackled the theme in 20 minutes using Creative Commons photos from Flickr and MS PhotoStory.

You can view them as one long story or view and download individual efforts.  Visit the digital stories section of the 2008 edna workshop pages: http://www.edna.edu.au/edna/go/networks/workshops/pid/2349

The following is an unabashed pitch for edna workshops.  If you’ve already registered, skip the rest.  If you haven’t and you’re in WA — get going!

The next edna workshops are taking place in WA at the School of Isolated and Distance Education in Leederville on Friday and Saturday, 27 and 28 March.

Our keynote speaker will be the lovely and talented Harriet Wakelam.

I’ll be there with Kerrie Smith, Kim Edgar and Pru Mitchell.

Last night, Helen Otway told us on twitter that http://www.animoto.com can now be downloaded into your blog, Facebook or YouTube. A Jaiku buddy had mentioned it in the past, but I thought he was talking about some anime title. Hah! I checked it out, and it is a great web application.

You probably already know about this web application, but I was very impressed with it. I made two movies in two days. I know it doesn’t have the flexibility of Photostory and MovieMaker, but Animoto is fantastic for what it is. I took a few pictures I already had, added some of their music, and Voila…a very nice video.

I love edna, and I had an account. Now I don’t. Sometime recently, it just disappeared. It seems that they have become more assertive about teachers needing to live in Australia. I was very impressed with the various offerings within the network. Ah well! I will just have to be satisfied with vicarious experiences through the rest of you;D
