From mobile phone to mobile production studio

In January I wrote about the two way pipeline of creativity related to a Ted talk on how customers drive innovation.

Today my RSS feed net caught a blog post from Steve Garfield on how he used the AV port on his Nokia N95 to plug in a shotgun mic - turning it into a much more effective audio  capture device. The photo of his phone with the mic plugged in sitting on a tripod using stuff he picked up at his local Radio Shack/Dick Smith equivalent is brilliant.

Sure, web tools such as qik can make live broadcasts from our phones  possible and I love them.  But for me, Steve’s hacks demonstrate that high tech combined with low tech and ingenuity puts the transformation of a technology into the hands of the users themselves.

    That’s nice.

I prefer old tech, young tech as a description though. But Ingenuity is a word I’m going to start using, thanks. (Innovation has become meaningless).
