It is always exciting when you meet up with a like mind. Today Brian Mclaughlin who runs an education blog attached to Jim Lehrer’s News Hour left a comment on my blog, so I wandered over and looked at what his blog talks about. Called the NewsHour Teacher Center the “mission statement” says This blog is a developing online resource and collaboration hub for teachers using current events and real world issues in their classrooms. It looks like it might be a good one to add to your list to monitor. I am still trying to find an RSS feed for it.
PBS has always been an excellent source of teaching materials and many have been included in edna’s database over the years. The Teacher Resources generated by NewsHour at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/extra/teachers/ provide resources related to current events and issues including news stories at a tenth grade reading level, pictures, maps, video, lesson plans etc.
