Today I got notification that my presentation for the Moodle Moot in Brisbane 2-3 October has been accepted. So hopefully I will be meeting up with some of my “virtual friends” there.
Currently the organisers are still looking for presenters.
The keynote speakers are
- Martin Dougiamas, Founder and Lead Developer of Moodle
- Professor Erica McWilliams, assistant Dean(research) for the Faculty of Education at Queensland University of Technology.

I am a country teacher in Western NSW, and often wonder at why these venues don’t ever consider coming to the outer areas in the respective states so country teachers can take part and increase their abilities in the Digital age of learning like the rest of the teacher population can if living on the east coast?
Surely the venues can come to country areas and expect those on the East coast to travel if they want to take part…this for a change would balance the scales a little bit better than is being done currently.
Just a thought as we can only stretch dollars for teacher relief and flights and accommodation so far, the pot is emptied very quickly as there are many different cohorts vying for places in symposiums/course/etc over the state all year.
It is often related to where the person willing to host the event is living Stuart, or whether a suitable venue is available.
edna has in the past hosted workshops in regional venues but with us it is also a case of making the dollar go the furthest and for us even the travel to a regional venue is an added cost in a very limited budget
