Each year National Reconciliation Week celebrates the rich culture and history of the first Australians. It’s the ideal time for all of us to join the reconciliation conversation and to think about how we can help turn around the disadvantage experienced by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2008 is: Reconciliation: it’s all our story.
A new 30 minute documentary called The Apology will be screened at the Theatrette, Parliament House, Canberra on Tuesday 27 May, 7.00 pm.
The film includes interviews, stories and many special moments including the first Welcome to Country in the Federal Parliament. It captures the anticipation on a thousand faces as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivers the apology to the Stolen Generations in the Australian Parliament on 13 February 2008, followed by the spontaneous outpouring of emotion all around the country. More Details including the opportunity to attend the screening.
