It’s the hardest thing for a common man to penetrate the old assumptions that a professional will always think by. A preservation professional. for example, will always assume that ‘resources’ are something to be classified - just look at all the web sites, let’s classify them! They must be kept separate from the publishers’ communication, even though we live in a globalizing world where the information and communications networks are converging, using IP technologies.
I guess the problem, from an Australian perspective, is that although we have some of the best techs in the world, local professionals always believe that new ideas come from outside the National boundaries, which is why Australian patent holders must go overseas to get them developed. http://forum.dcc.ac.uk/viewtopic.php?t=226
