If you hadn’t heard - Jimmy Wales, the man behind Wikipedia, is visiting Australia for the first time in April 2007 at the invite of education.au. He will be the keynote speaker at the first seminar for 2007 - Challenging how knowledge is created. The seminar will be held in:
- Adelaide 23 April
- Perth 24 April
- Sydney 26 April
- Melbourne 27 April.
The seminar will provide participants with a unique opportunity to explore, discuss and debate the what and the why of Wikipedias popularity. Wikipedia is recognised widely as being at the forefront of Web 2.0 technologies, characterised by the new literacies of the 21st Century of inclusion, collaboration and participation. Its ongoing success and popularity is the focus of many school and university projects world wide.
The full day seminar also features a panel discussion with speakers from schools, vocational education, higher education, industry and students.
