This podcast features the question and answer session which followed Howard Rheingold’s keynote presentation at the education.au seminar in Melbourne, Tuesday 2 October.
Following is a brief synopsis of the questions which were asked of Howard.
Question 1: What is your prediction for what the workforce is going to look like in 20years time.
Question 2: How can university lecturers best work with the wide ranging cultural backgrounds of students that they teach?
Question 3: What are the issues in relation to the walled garden and an open community online? What is the role of the politician online?
Question 4: What are some of the pathways by which digital immigrants may be able to best access the social networking and public spaces created by social networking that digital natives use?
Question 5: How could we best progress understandings and policy within an organisation as it struggles to adopt the use of Web 2.0 as part of its infrastructure when often people within the organisations have side stepped or jumped over Web 2.0 tools and moved straight into Second Life and other third world environments?
Question 6: Can you elaborate on what schools can do to educate and ensure students have the skills for the 21st Century?
Question 7: What sort of institutions do you think might be required to really support those businesses who are fuelled by people who are embracing social networking?
Question 8: On the issue of open architecture and open systems - how do you think these different movements will play out over the next decade.
