Innovations Part 3: myedna share my learning journey

This is the third in a series of four blog posts to summarise the first ‘proof of concept’ innovation project.

Approach
The final stage of the project focused on social networks: putting the ‘watch me learn’ into myedna, developing an environment where people can quickly and easily find others interested in the same resources and topics.

What we did

  • Integrated community resource finding, tagging and sharing into myedna (similar to del.icio.us).
  • Added a Guru Cloud concept that identifies the educators who have tagged most/least using a specific tag or topic.
  • Developed a modular threaded discussion tool that can be employed in social networking environments to enable discussion on resources and tags within the system.
  • Introduced the ability for educators to form teams in myedna.

Innovations

  • Educators can have meaningful discussions centred on tags and resources.
  • Educators can collaborate in the collecting of educational resources.
  • Educators can find others who share the same topic interest or who have collected extensively on a topic as shown through the guru cloud.
